  1. ====== Band Plan for DOS Version 1.X Instructions ======
  2.  
  3. Band Plan is a graphical representation of U.S. amateur privileges
  4. from 160 meters to 23 centimeters.  It contains mode and frequency
  5. information for Novice, Technician, Technician +, General, Advanced,
  6. and Extra licensees.  It is designed as a quick reference guide. 
  7.  
  8. I also have a Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) version available for $20.00.  
  9.  
  10. Band Plan Version 1.X requires:
  11.  
  12. 1)MS-DOS version 3.0 or greater.
  13. 2)CGA, EGA, OR VGA monitor.
  14. 3)A printer capable of IBM graphics characters is desirable but NOT 
  15. required.

  17. The distribution disk contains the following files:
  18. BPDOS.EXE    The actual program 
  19. BPWIN.TXT    This file
  20. ORDER.FRM    Order form
  21.  
  22. Band Plan can be run from a floppy or a hard disk.  For the GMT time 
  23. display to be correct you will need to do two things:
  24.  
  25. 1) Make sure your PC is set to the correct time and date.
  26. 2) Set the TZ (Time Zone) Environment Variable as follows:
  27.  
  28. For Eastern Daylight savings time type the following at the DOS prompt:
  29. SET TZ=EST5EDT(ENTER)
  30.  
  31. For Eastern Standard Time:
  32. SET TZ=EST5(ENTER)
  33. * (ENTER) means the ENTER or RETURN key on your keyboard.
  34. ** This command could be added to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

  36. This is the format of the TZ environment string: 
  37.  
  38. TZ = zzz[+/-]d[d][lll]
  39.  
  40.  Component      What It Represents
  41.  zzz        Three-character string representing the name of the current   
  42.             time zone. All three characters  are required. (EST=Eastern 
  43.             Standard Time, CST=Central Standard Time, etc.) 
  44.  [+/-]d[d]  Required field containing an optionally signed number with  
  45.             1 or more digits.   This number is the local time zone's 
  46.             difference from GMT in hours.   
  47.          -  Positive numbers adjust westward from GMT.   
  48.          -  Negative numbers adjust eastward from GMT.   
  49.             This number is used in the calculation of timezone.  
  50.  lll        Optional three-character field that represents  the local  
  51.             time zone's daylight saving time.   
  52.          -  If this field is present, daylight savings is in effect.     
  53.          -  If this field is absent, daylight savings is NOT in effect.   
  54.  
  55. If the TZ environment string isn't present or isn't in the specified form,
  56. it  presumes a default TZ = "PST8PDT" for the purpose of  caculating GMT 
  57. time.
